Yoga and the Quest for Health

Jodie is eternally grateful for all that yoga has opened in the world for her.  At only 7 years old, she went to her first yoga class with her grandparents in their seniors facility.  Jodie had broken her neck in a gymnastics accident and had spent a year in a body cast, doctor's questioned her ability to be able to walk and live without pain. Her grandfather was convinced that this was her only hope of healing was to go to yoga.   She was so young, she had no idea why she was there but kept going because the seniors in the class kept giving her chocolates.  The recovery was long and a lot of work, but Jodie not only healed but returned to competitive sports afterwards.  While she was young, she continued going to yoga classes when she was in pain and in her 20's took up a daily practice to ensure her health and longevity.  That's when she realized the deeper meaning of yoga:  that it leads us to consciously connect with ourselves and with life and allows us to wake up to who or what we really are and to what life is all about.

Jodie is passionate about studying and teaching yoga,  especially knowing its full potential.  She studied various yogic paths: hatha, vinyassa, therapeutics, yin, prenatal as well as for children.  Jodie loves to inspire people to achieve their optimal health through yoga and has taught all ages and abilities.  Knowing the power of yoga, Jodie established Foundation Ambaa in Montreal in 2012, Montreal's  first non-profit wellness centre, where people who were in recovery were able to receive therapeutic classes free of charge so they could have the wonderful opportunity to heal without financial stress.   At Ambaa, she developed programmes that were beneficial for people of all ages, shapes, genders, religions and abilities.  She worked hand in hand with the MUHC and Cedar's CanSupport and saw the large scale benefits of therapeutic  yoga, and also conducted research on her programmes.  While she collaborated with Cedar's, Jodie worked with hundred's of women with breast cancer and developed a 12 week recovery program that had such beneficial results that it was published in a medical journal.

At le Temple D'O, Jodie offers private or semi private yoga classes and will customize the classes to suit your needs and give you the skills to take charge of your own health, in a beautiful natural setting. Her classes empower the practitioner by focusing on the present moment while exploring the depths of the body, mind and soul, all with a sense of lightness and fun to approach the body’s natural ability to heal itself.
